The goodness of His answers – Are you in a season of waiting? Is His response ‘no’ or ‘not yet’ and do you feel you can’t wait any longer? Then this is for you.

This past week I realised that it has been a while since I’ve written a personal post about my life. What can I say… the last 8 months have been very much a season of waiting for us. So I felt that there wasn’t much to share.
I think it’s fair to say that everyone is experiencing a slower season in life with this pandemic. But this past week something happened and I felt the urge to share it with you.
TO GROW IN FAITH
Some of you may remember my blog post Grow in Faith in a Season of Waiting. In it I mention how a season of waiting is a wonderful opportunity to grow in faith. It is in those times when you leave unanswered difficulties in His hands that your faith will be strengthened.
Are you familiar with the ‘trust fall’ exercise? There are many different variants of this exercise but the basic principle is to let yourselves fall with your eyes closed while trusting another person or multiple persons to catch you.
Consider this: It wouldn’t be much of a trust fall if you just did it with your eyes opened, would it?
Yes, you would see the person(s) standing ready to catch you and actually catch you. It might build up a little bit of trust in the person catching you. But it isn’t nearly as effective as doing it with your eyes closed.
It’s in those moments where you live life and move forward without knowing what’s waiting on the other side. That you can build up that trust that God is there waiting to catch you.
The answers to you prayers and situation may currently be ‘no’ and ‘not yet’. But trust this: it is because there’s something better waiting for you. And He knows exactly what that is. He has lovingly and intentionally orchestrated what’s to come.
It may not be something easy. It may not be something that you imagined. But it will be something better than the ‘no’s’ and the ‘not yet’s’ you have received thus far.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6.
You may see those verses and know it. But you may feel weary and discouraged. You may remember the things He has done for you in the past but at times struggle to believe that it will happen again.
THE GOODNESS OF HIS ANSWERS
If that’s you, then let my personal experience encourage you. Due to Covid, Nathan and I both lost our jobs and had to leave the lovely cottage we were living in. We are blessed because we are able to live with Nathan’s parents until we find our own home and Nathan was able to get a new job straight away.
But I… well… I applied for jobs nearly every single week for 8 months straight. For the first 5 months I received rejection after rejection. But in the last few months I started to get invited for interviews. Last week I was finally offered a job.
The job I was offered is not just any job. It’s a job for a charity that does amazing work and the role suits me, my experiences, and my skills so well. After I accepted the job I had the wonderful realisation that all those ‘no’s’ and ‘not yet’s’ were all because He had something better for me.
During the 8 months of job hunting I wondered at times why it took me so long to get a job. And why I didn’t get certain jobs that seemed ideal.
His answers aren’t always what you want to hear. I felt frustrated, weary, and impatient.
Even though I knew He would provide it was hard to feel that way too.
Once again He has shown me his loving kindness and I can’t wait to start my new job!
So if you are in a season of waiting, know that He has something better in mind. He will provide and when He does, you will notice the goodness of His answers.
Much love,
Jenna
